Gears of War 3 is a third-person shooter video game, focusing on cover and squad tactics to survive combat situations. The game begins with Chairman Prescott arriving on the Sovereign, revealing his father, Adam Fenix, is still alive but captive on Azura. Marcus, Dom, Cole, and Baird fight their way to the Anvil Gate Fortress, where Colonel Hoffman possesses the necessary equipment to decrypt Prescott's disc. Marcus and his comrades help Hoffman's soldiers repel a combined Lambent and Locust assault.
